Bryan and Randy would like to welcome you to the Veteran Transition Hub! Our main goal for this project is to bring transition specialists, veterans, charities, and subject matter experts to the front of the veteran transition conversation. Our main part of the project is the podcast. Please see the link below to see the different platforms we are on.
We aim to have true conversations with people who "have been there" and who "have done that". With Randy's experience with Higher Education and Bryan's experience in the workforce, there are many things that can be discussed that will help alleviate the dreaded learning curve. We discuss:
Co-Host: Bryan Todd
Bryan joined the Army in 1999 and went to become a Blackhawk Helicopter Mechanic and Flight Crew. His first duty station was in Germany and that is where he met and worked with Randy (the other co-host). While in, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and then got out of the military in 2006.
He and his wife moved to Florida and this is where the challenges started. Away from the structure, away from both of their friends, the civilian side became a challenge. Help from his father and uncles definitely moved the peg forward a little bit, but it got real in 2008.
The recession in 2008 and the essential lack of planning and always staying reactionary led to no money in the account and back at delivering pizza. The financial troubles and stress of not having a purpose started to put a strain on him. He was then helped by another former colleague and got him hooked up in contracting, which helped him get his plan in place.
After going through the contracting, working through college, and taking entry level jobs a few times, Bryan is now a Cyber Security consultant for a large firm. The challenges still exist, but not having gone through the challenges after getting out of the military would not have let him go through the hard times needed to be successful.
Randy Rebman is currently a college professor. His service spanned 6 years as a Bradley Armored Vehicle Driver and Blackhawk Mechanic/Flight Crew
